1.) “The Little Engine That Could” by Watty Piper tells of a little locomotive traveling up a mighty hill. This book extolls the benefits of sticking to your goals.

2.)”Horton Hatches the Egg” is a fable from Dr. Seuss about an elephant who says he’ll hatch a bird’s egg for her, follows through on that promise despite hardships, and is rewarded with love. It’s a moving story about the importance of keeping your word.

3.)”You Can Do It!” by Tony Dungy tells the entertaining tale of how Dungy’s younger brother struggled to figure out what to do with his life before deciding to become a dentist.Didn’t catch that? This explains it. The book’s larger moral is that God has a plan for everyone.

4.)”Leo the Late Bloomer” by Robert Kraus concerns a young tiger who is not always able to keep up with his friends. But soon Leo thrives. The message is that people shouldn’t compare themselves to others, but should instead do the best they can.

5.)”You Are Special” by Max Lucado is about a character named Punchinello who feels inferior because he is made of wood. The lesson Punchinello learns is to appreciate himself exactly as he is.
